The Giver Quintet, Lois Lowry-I often list The Giver as one of my favorite books.  The rest of the series does not disappoint.

The Kane Chronicles, Rick Riordan- Sotra like Percy Jackson but focuses on Egyptian gods.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians, Rick Riordan-A modern myth that seamlessly incorporates the stories of the Greek gods of Olympus. 
The Thickety, J.A. White- a new series (later books hopefully will be released soon), wonderful fantasy woven with historical witch hunts.
